Park control in Prenzlauer Berg

There are some things I hate in cities. Searching for a space to park my car is one thing. Paying for that is the other. And it seems as if whole Prenzlauer Berg is mined with pay-for-parking spaces. You virtually can't find a parking place for free.

I don't like it at all - what sounds contradicting, but I really do not want to pay for parking my car. Never ever. This is a hidden tax. The only people that profit from it are:

  • The manufacturers of tens of thousands of signs "Payment necessary from Mo-Fr 9am- 12pm". How do they get the contracts - WTF?
  • The manufacturers of those payment machines. How do they get the contracts - WTF?
  • The state that gets people off the streets. How? Simple - the state gives them the great opportunity to control if cars in that areas payed their fee correctly.
Sure. People living in the area might profit because they can buy a parking space for 1 year. But - they also have to pay.

At the end everybody looses. And-  I can only guess - but it might have a significant impact on business owners in the area. At the end it seems it might have a significant negative impact on the whole area.
In short: Shame on you - government of Prenzlauer Berg. Give us our tax back!

Empty streets. Somewhere 1km away are those funny payment machines :)
